A very amused, albeit confused, pair of bright cerulean eyes watched from behind the counter as a clearly agitated Sasuke Uchiha passed by the store once, twice, three times in five minute intervals. He never looked inside; simply strolled by in a rigid stride. If Ino didn’t know any better, she’d say he was debating whether or not to come in to the flower shop. Once again, he walked by except that this time Sasuke stopped about three feet away from the entrance and seemed to be staring intently at the door as if it would burst into flames the second he touched it. Thirty suspenseful seconds passed before the door opened and a cheerful chiming of the bell on top echoed through the empty shop.
“Welcome to our newly renovated shop, Uchiha,” greeted Ino. She watched him nod in her direction then focus on a section of flowers to his right. His gaze never settled on one thing which gave her the impression he had no idea what he was looking for. “Is there anything I can help you with?”
There was a brief pause of silence where she almost expected him to ignore her question.
“Are you in stock of white lilies?” Sasuke asked calmly. “I’d like three small arrangements, if possible.”
“I do, actually, in the back,” Ino replied. “Just one sec.”
White lilies, huh. The most favored flower for those of the deceased.
Ino wasted no time in slipping to the back room where they kept the giant fridge for their flowers and pulled out enough lilies to be able to make three arrangements. She also pulled some decorative weeds for purely aesthetic reasons and headed back to the counter to roll them up. She found Sasuke on the other side of the room holding two types of flowers in his hand and glancing between the two very intently. So intently, in fact, it was a surprise his sharingan wasn’t activated. Ino narrowed her eyes slightly in suspicion at his unusual actions. The flowers she was currently working on were understandable and she had a pretty good idea who they were for, but it was obvious he was trying to pick something out for someone.
“Rejection,” Ino piped up. Sasuke whipped his head around to look at her like a deer caught in headlights. She tipped her head in the direction of his hand. “That yellow carnation, it represents rejection or disappointment. That other one there represents sorrow.”
