“Can’t sleep, Sasuke-kun?”
Mismatched orbs looked into jade ones. The man nodded slowly, and stifling a yawn, Sakura took a seat beside him. They were at a water tower overlooking the peaceful village of Konoha at the early hours of the morning. Most of the people are still asleep, save for a select few. For a few minutes, they didn’t bother to fill the silence with words.
Sasuke looked beside him to study her profile. She had her eyes closed, but there was a serene smile on her face, almost hiding the fact that she’s tired. “Are you done with work?”
The medic opened her eyes and directed the said smile at him. “Yeah. I was supposed to be finished by ten, but an emergency surgery came up.” Another yawn. “But it’s okay. It’s my day off now.”
He frowned a little at that. “Then you should go home and sleep. You need to rest, Sakura.”
She stubbornly shook her head no. “There’s still a bit of adrenaline in my veins. Plus, I saw you here and thought you might need some company,” she admitted, smiling widely at him with a warmth that is distinctly hers.

SasuSaku Month 2018 – Day 9: Written By The Stars
Rating: T+ (Some language).
Context: AU/Supernatural’ish
A/N: Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy it! This is part 1 out of 3.
A barely audible grunt escaped his usually guarded lips as the seal on his wrist flared hot and painfully. He sank further into the shadows at the corner of the great hall where he had been hiding for the past few hours. Social gatherings weren’t his thing, much to the chagrin of his mother who had forced him to attend. The Queen of the Underworld was a frightening force to be reckoned with.
He brought his wrist up towards his eyes for further inspection and frowned in displeasure as it flared again, albeit this time less painfully, yet just as intense. The black tattoo, in the shape of a pair of wings, on his skin stood innocently and he could have almost dismissed it as part of his imagination had it not been for a thin, whispery line of silver that began to outline the tattoo. It would have been impossible to miss for someone with eyes like his. His Sharingan did not lie.
And then, suddenly, the truth hit him like a lightning strike to the chest. He gripped the area over his heart and took in his accelerating heartbeat. There was no mistaking the signs. She was here. His gleaming red eyes swept over the hall, from left to right, looking for any sign of her. Although he had not looked upon her for almost three centuries, he’d never fail to recognize her. Their souls were intertwined, after all.

Title: The Lion & The Ram
Prompt: Written In The Stars

Disclaimer
Day’s Notes: I’m always a day late and a dollar short but hopefully this fic was worth waiting for. a soulmark au set in the ninja-verse; implied ShiItaIzu
Tracing the lines that stood prominent on his forearm, Sasuke sighed and dipped lower into the bathtub. It was on such a noticeable part of his body, and his mother knew the exact moment the cluster of dots on his skin took shape, just a few months shy of his first birthday.
“Tired from the heat already?”
Sasuke looked up at his older brother sitting across the ofuro. His hair had gotten long enough for Mother to let him borrow one of her pins to keep his hair from getting wet. With his hair pulled up and away, Itachi’s soulmarks were on display. A rarity considering their placement on his collarbone.
Itachi was an anomaly. It was one thing to be born like the Hyuga and have no soulmark but to have two of them was almost unheard of.
Itachi’s two marks were completely different from each other and stood on opposite sides, symmetrical in location. Constellations that typically never rose high in the sky at the same time standing like equals on his skin.
The one on his right he was born with, one soulmate already born before him. The second one appeared when he was two months old, the other one younger but still the same age.
At four years old Sasuke was confused by Itachi’s marks. If he had two soulmates than how did he know which one was the right one? What if he picked wrong?
“I don’t think there’s a wrong choice,” Itachi answered him, ruffling Sasuke’s hair dry with a towel. “It doesn’t even mean I will ever meet them.”
That was the problem with their soulmarks. Constellations were vague. His soulmate could be anyone.
Anyone born under the Ram.

*****
Her own journey was drawing too close.
She found it exhilirating. Their story was not the typical boy-meets-girl-and-they-live-happily-ever type. He was not one to take notice of girls when they were still genin. He would brush off anyone who tried to charm their way to him – and she was not exempted. Although, throughout the course of Team 7’s various D-ranked missions, she was able to at least talk to him often, though he looked annoyed or brooding most of the time. But it gave her a good start.
The subtle, yet clear, message the Uchiwa showed at the back of most of her clothes told her that her love has finally reached Sasuke’s heart.
To her surprise, when he saw her wearing one of the clothes he gave her, a slight blush crept on his cheeks up to his ears which twitched lightly. Which of course became apparent to her face as well. Does she need to a make conclusion that blushing can be epidemic?
Feeling slightly braver of the two, Sakura threw away all the caution outside the window. She flung her arms at his neck, making him blush even more. “Thank you, Sasuke-kun”.
Not missing out on the endearment, Sasuke took a step backward, his fingers finding their way to her forehead just like when he made that secret promise infront of the village gate (“Thank you, I’ll see you soon”), “Hn. Let’s eat before we start travelling again.”.
It was enough to make her blush even more. She somewhat felt like there was more to that forehead poke than what he had let on but she knew he would have to tell her someday. Perhaps, when she starts wearing her clothes with the fan.
*****
Sasuke revealed that part of his plan was to stop by Amegakure so he can pick up her clothes and then travel a few more miles before nightfall. He was certain that tonight was the same time when he witnessed that magic, something he wanted a certain pink-haired kunoichi to witness. His thoughts drifted to her during his journey to redemption. On some days, he would ask himself why she has not given up on him when the only thing he ever did was hurt her. And then Kakashi’s voice would ring inside his head, “Sakura just wanted to save you…”, reminding him how much pain she had to endure because of him.
He was in an endless battle. A part of him wanted to run away from her, Naruto, the village. He will continue his journey and find himself a new home where the Uchicha is just another name. But when he thinks about home, he thinks of Sakura. The sound of her voice when she calls him Sasuke-kun, viridian eyes filled with a myriad of emotions, one of which makes his heart flutter; the feel of her soft skin when he pokes her forehead and the sound of her laughter filling his heart with hope that someday, the same laughter will fill a house he will call their own.
Sakura and the word “home” seemed to agree with each other and so, one night, assuming (and hoping) that she will say yes, he took her clothes and had them embroidered with the Uchiwa. She was the only woman he thinks is worthy of the title, “Uchiha Matriarch”, something his loving late mother carried with pride.

“Are you sure we came to the right place?”
They have arrived at a village near the sea where townsfolk have gathered wearing yukatas. It appears that they were celebrating, several shops lined the streets with some of them selling different kinds of food, others have games where children were left to play while their parents watch with glee. Being a shinobi meant you can rarely enjoy times like this and it was not different for Sakura especially when the Fourth Shinobi war happened in her lifetime. Immediately, her eyes became busy taking it all in. She glanced at one store and then another, almost forgetting about the other shinobi who followed her closely like a shadow.
The aroma of something sweet lured her near the edge of the forest, where a lone stall stood. An old man with a gentle smile on his face motioned for him to come closer. “Have some wagashi, young lady! You look like you could do with sweets.”
She offered her a genuine smile. “Why, thank you!”, she said as the old man served her with what looked like Imagawayaki. “Itadakimasu!”
“I have not seen you before, perhaps you’re travelling?”
She shrugged as she munched on her azuki bean paste filled dessert, “Hai! We did not actually plan to go here but I guess passing by was not a bad idea.” Sakura still haven’t realized that her travelling companion was nowhere in sight.
“Aah, you came with a special someone I am sure. Just in time to celebrate Tanabata.”
Tanabata?! Exactly what date was it again? Have they been travelling together that long that she has not noticed? Flustered, she decided to continue ravishing her imagawayaki. The old man continued, “The universe may conspire to break you apart but fate will always find a way to connect your hearts.”
Sasuke-kun!
Was this a sign? Surely they lived their lives apart but after everything else that happened, but he came home to her. Was it fate that brought him back to her? Were the gods giving her, them, a chance?
As if on cue, the man he loved appeared not far from her. Dark pearls met green ones. He was the first one to break the silence. “I have been looking for you. Come, let’s go to the shrine before the fireworks start.”
Maybe it was the clear and bright sky, or the effect of sugar on her dessert. After thanking the old mad who refused her payment, she took the hand he offered her and they made their way to the shrine. The crowd was thinning so they practically had the shrine to themselves.
“You should write your wish.” Sasuke pointed at the paper infront of them. Looking back at their academy days, she felt really ashamed to let Sasuke read what she wrote when Iruka-sensei asked them who they want to spend their last day with, should the moon fall on the earth. Nothing has changed. The only thing she wrote was the same one she wrote way back.
Uchiha Sasuke.
Heat rose on her face as she remembered that day. It was him, always will be. No matter how many troubles come their way, there can only be one man whose name she will write on a paper. And the said man, who was now facing her, staring intently, took her paper and gave his to her. “I have done nothing but hurt you, but I pray to the gods that they grant me this wish.” With that, her forehead received a poke, something she did not exactly know what meant but made her blush anyway.
The stars, shining brightly as ever, helped her read what he wrote:
