Sasuke shot up from his bed with a startled gasp, he looked around wildly trying to find the thing that woke him up. Only the darkness of his hotel room greeted him. He sighed deeply and rubbed his face, frowning at the sweat running down his temples. His heart was hammering against his rib cage and a certain sense of anxiety was bubbling in his stomach. He tried shaking off the tension on his shoulders and fell back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. He figured he must have had a nightmare and willed himself to calm down. Without realizing, he managed to doze off enough to settle into a light slumber.
Not long after he was being shaken awake and blinded by light. He shielded his eyes from the brightness and saw his older brother, in his sleepwear, zooming around the room in quick strides gathering up his belongings.
“Itachi?” Sasuke was thoroughly confused.
Itachi threw him a single look, but it was enough to make him freeze in panic. “We’re leaving on the first flight to Konoha. You have five minutes.”
He threw the covers off of him, without hesitating, and changed quickly. There were a million questions running around in his head, but he dared not ask after seeing that hard look on his brother’s face. Thankfully, he didn’t have much to pack and was done just as Itachi was opening their front door. He followed without a word and jumped into the taxi that was waiting for them.
“Airport,” Itachi commanded as soon as he slipped in behind him. The car drove off.
“What’s happened?” Sasuke asked, not being able to hold in his questions anymore. “We’ve barely had a meeting with our prospective business partner here in Suna an-“
“Sasuke,” Itachi cut him off with a deep frown. “There’s been an incident. Your wife…”
Please, no. Sasuke froze as fear gripped his heart.
