Day 18: Comfortable Silence

Sarada noticed that her papa and mama are not like other parents. Uchiha Sasuke finally came home after his long mission, and she expected that they’ll be loud together now that he’s back.
But she would usually find them together – quiet.
When she confronted her mama about it, she just gave her a smile and a poke on her forehead. “Papa is a man of few words, Sarada.”
“I know that, mama. But you’re unusually quiet when you’re with papa.”
The pinkette gave a small chuckle. “There is something very comfortable with silence. With all the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s nice to have a quiet moment. Your papa is the best person to be with during a time like that.”
The little Uchiha still didn’t understand. Didn’t they have anything to talk about? Sarada concluded that her parents are just being their weird selves.
But one afternoon, after her mission for the day finished earlier than expected, she found her parents sitting under a tree – her mama’s head on her papa’s shoulder. Both had their eyes closed, but what stood out most is the soft smile on their faces. For a while, Sarada looked at her parents lovingly. She felt foolish for questioning the love of her parents to each other before. Anyone with eyes could see it radiate from the two.
Not long after, Sasuke slowly opened his eyes. He looked at Sarada and motioned for her to come. Their little princess obliged, though a bit shy to disturb her parents’ moment. Emeralds looked at onyx.
“Sit here between mama and papa, Sarada.”
And so she did. “How was your mission, Sarada?” Sasuke asked his daughter.
“Fairly well, papa. We were able to deliver the scroll ahead of time so we decided to hurry home.”
“Aa.”
The family of three lapsed into silence once again. Now, Sarada didn’t mind it. She actually liked this moment. After spending the day with the loudness of Boruto, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru-sensei, she appreciated the tranquility.
She wouldn’t trade this serenity for anything in the world.

SASUSAKU MONTH: DAY EIGHTEEN
Comfortable Silence
Just a random sketch. This must be one of the laziest I’ve done, but I liked how I’ve done Sasuke’s face here, so I decided to just let it be, otherwise I’ll probably destroy it. Hahah.

Day 18 – Comfortable Silence
.
.
There is a time of day after his duties that he enjoys by spending some time at home. Some days he passes the time by gardening. Other times a simple rest on their porch is enough for him. There is no need for any stimulus, he is fine merely listening to the quiet of their neighbourhood.
It is soothing.
A lifetime of turbulence lends oneself to enjoy such moments with a little more appreciation.
Generally he enjoys spending such time by himself, but every now and then he’ll change it up by allowing Sakura to join him.
There is a silent agreement between them; he’d not told her that he wanted to do nothing more than enjoy the quiet, but she had understood anyway for she sits by his side as nothing more than company. She is silent, and warm.
Sometimes he allows her to interlink their pinkies together. A simple gesture, but one that takes some convincing for Sakura to ’go for’. Sometimes he likes to subtlety smirk at Sakura’s still giddy behaviour. She was his blushing bride many years ago and he is pleased to be reminded that not much has changed since then.
During an evening unlike most others, Sasuke once again allows Sakura to sit beside him.
She does not say anything, but peripherally he can see that she is smiling.
It used to bother him how little he had to do to make her happy. A strange insecurity perhaps, but it always played on his mind that despite Sakura’s outward personality, she had never been one for roses, or chocolates, or extravagant gifts of any sort.
He sometimes wondered if she merely acted this way for him.
But she had assured him otherwise.
Sasuke turns to her. Instead of looking onwards to the scenery from their balcony, Sasuke glances upon to his wife’s visage. Feeling his gaze, Sakura turns to him with an expression of questioning.
He doesn’t answer her, not today. Today, Sasuke leans forward and kisses his wife. He hears a soft sound of surprise escape Sakura as their lips touch. He grins into the affection as Sakura begins to reciprocate.
He pulls away perhaps a little earlier than she’d like.
He pulls away, but still remains close. Sakura is a blushing mess, her eyes are bright with excitement. Sasuke’s smirk grows, and upon noticing this, Sakura puffs out her cheeks and lightly flicks his shoulder.
“Jerk,” she mutters in jest.
Sasuke chuckles, and leans in once more.

[ SasuSaku month day 18 ~ comfortable silence ]
I’m a tad bit late but since I wanted to participate here’s a quick little sketchy thing!
SasuSaku Month 2017
Day 18: Comfortable SilenceUchiha Sasuke, the familiar stranger, sits close to her
mother angling towards her but not touching her. They don’t say anything and
after so many years apart she doesn’t want to believe it is because there’s
nothing left to say between them. They just stare at each other, nothing is spoken and the
silence is suffocating.Sarada’s waiting, desperately waiting for them to say something, anything that tells her that
there’s still a family somewhere in their dysfunctional make-pretend.Her mother’s lips curl upward, slightly and the expression
on her father’s face changes and even as she tries she can’t read him. There’s something
in her mother though, a brilliance like she’s never seen, like she was brought
to life but not a word was spoken.Sarada shakes her head, she doesn’t get it. Running away toward
the training grounds she wonders if it’s something she can’t see.
For SasuSaku Month 2017.
“Do you remember seeing this same sky, Sasuke-kun?”
When he glances at her, her gaze is bright and directed skywards, a soft smile curving her lips. Her posture is relaxed as she leans her elbows against the grass, comfortably adjusting herself into a position wherein she can see the stars in all their glory.
“Yeah,” he responds. “Back when we were twelve.”
She lets out a light chuckle. “Those were the days, huh?” Something nostalgic crosses her features, one that he doesn’t miss. “The night sky here looks exactly the same as it was years ago…”
He follows her gaze and finds himself immersed in the black expanse, sprayed with sparkling lights and hazy clouds. Both of them don’t speak nor do anything for a long while, finding contentment in being around each other’s presences. He has never really experienced anything like this before, and it’s actually a beautiful, surreal feeling. To have someone in your life who can give you the space you need, understands your reasons, and is never afraid to show how much they love you is still a concept that’s slightly foreign to him, especially since this case is not like his bonds with his family but something romantic.
She may not be the most perfect person in the world, but she is more than enough for him.
She… is the one.
No more hesitating, he thinks to himself.
Without any further ado on his part, he slowly turns towards her and gently cradles her face with his hand. She looks startled at this unexpected move, but she doesn’t say anything, only staring at him with her eyes wide.
She always does have the most expressive eyes he has ever seen.
Sasuke smiles softly, then leans towards her and presses his lips to her forehead.
“Words aren’t the only way to tell someone how you feel.”
Day 18 Prompt: Comfortable Silence.
Day 18 – Comfortable Silence
Resting on his wife’s lap, Sasuke feels like sleeping.
Lying on his side, Sakura’s thighs, smooth and cool pillow nicely his head. Her hand is like a feather, gentle and light, brushing his hair and scratching his scalp—his spine shudders and his ears twitch; he’s basking in the exquisite sensations.
Her arms are completely bare, he feels no bracelets hanging on her wrists. Her hands have a nice and clean smell, like antiseptic but the scent is so faint Sasuke can barely perceive it since he’s so used to it; first from his past days in Orochimaru’s lair, then from the time he’s spent in the hospital after the war. However, he has since long grown to appreciate it, having associated the smell with his wife.
Her fingers untangle his black hair, tucking loose locks behind his ear before he feels her nails gently and slowly grazing his scalp. Sasuke knows she knows the way she moves her fingers on his scalp makes him tingle; she can feel the smallest tremors that run through his body and he’s quite certain she’s smiling above him, amused by the way his body reacts to her. With her other hand, the fluffy puff of the mimikaki goes swoosh and whoosh around his ear.
As far as he can remember, Sakura’s touch has always been therapeutic to him. It’s a gentle touch, tender and warm. He feels calmer, more serene.
(As a matter of fact, he sleeps best when he has his arm draped over her, her hand covering his or when Sakura cuddles him from behind with her hand inside his shirt, as though she’s checking his body temperature.
But, if Sasuke’s honest, he knows she does this to feel his muscles.)
When she touches him, Sasuke feels like he’s lying on the grass on a spring day.
It’s soothing.
Sure, there are times when they are feverish and passionate—and they happen more often than Sasuke will ever admit—but these quiet moments are the ones Sasuke relishes in the most. Words are silent and eyes don’t meet but it’s intimate and very, very peaceful. It’s in the way she touches him, when she grazes lightly over the helix of his ear with her nails, when she tucks his hair behind his ear because she doesn’t want loose strands to get in the way of her ear cleaning. It’s in the way she moves the mimikaki, drawing lazy circles around his ear with the white puff, and then picking on his ear with the other end.
It’s a nice feeling indeed—to feel cherished.
