Day 18: Comfortable Silence

Uchiha Sasuke, the familiar stranger, sits close to her
mother angling towards her but not touching her. They don’t say anything and
after so many years apart she doesn’t want to believe it is because there’s
nothing left to say between them.

They just stare at each other, nothing is spoken and the
silence is suffocating.

Sarada’s waiting, desperately waiting for them to say something, anything that tells her that
there’s still a family somewhere in their dysfunctional make-pretend.

Her mother’s lips curl upward, slightly and the expression
on her father’s face changes and even as she tries she can’t read him. There’s something
in her mother though, a brilliance like she’s never seen, like she was brought
to life but not a word was spoken.

Sarada shakes her head, she doesn’t get it. Running away toward
the training grounds she wonders if it’s something she can’t see.
