Sasusaku Month ‘17: Day 4
Prompt: Lean on me
Title: My Immortal
Rating: K
Summary: His nightmares had always traumatized him, but this time, he was not alone. /Sasusaku travels.
‘My Immortal’
His skin felt warm. Not the unpleasant kind, but the kind of heat he’d name calm and comforting. The scent of rose petals filling his nostrils as he breathed in the fresh air. The voices of melodious birds chirping and singing along with the rustling of leaves due to the blowing, summer air could be heard by his ears, loud and clear. Somehow, all of this felt familiar- familiar and heart warming. The walls, the curtains, the doors, the windows and the floor mats. Everything.
.
He looked around to find the answers for his questioning thoughts. Here and there, swiftly and furiously, careful enough to notice every little detail that might pass by, but nothing seemed to help. Not until a voice entered his ears. A voice he had gotten accustomed to; calling his name, the voice he had miss a lot- a lot wasn’t even a word to describe how much he’d wanted to listen to this voice, this very familiar voice that brought tears to his eyes. He turned around to face the origin of that voice, only to find a dark haired woman standing, a peaceful smile plastered on her face.
.
“Mother..” he whispered, his eyes narrowing, holding back tears as he ran and wrapped his arms around the figure which was not taller than him anymore. His head buried in the crook of his mother’s neck, his arms holding her fragile figure tightly, afraid to lose it again. Afraid to lose her again.
.
“Now Sasuke, don’t cry.” she rubbed his back, affectionately, motherly. Like enveloping his body by her warmth, saving him from all the hostility of the cruel world. Her voice, her benignity, her smell, everything- everything. He had missed all of this.
.
“Is that you, Sasuke?”

Day 18: Comfortable SilenceUchiha Sasuke, the familiar stranger, sits close to her
mother angling towards her but not touching her. They don’t say anything and
after so many years apart she doesn’t want to believe it is because there’s
nothing left to say between them.They just stare at each other, nothing is spoken and the
silence is suffocating.Sarada’s waiting, desperately waiting for them to say something, anything that tells her that
there’s still a family somewhere in their dysfunctional make-pretend.Her mother’s lips curl upward, slightly and the expression
on her father’s face changes and even as she tries she can’t read him. There’s something
in her mother though, a brilliance like she’s never seen, like she was brought
to life but not a word was spoken.Sarada shakes her head, she doesn’t get it. Running away toward
the training grounds she wonders if it’s something she can’t see.
Day 14 – Even Just for a Moment
fandom: naruto
characters/pairings: sasusaku
a/n: sasusaku month, ssm17d14He was a man of stately presence but he wasn’t overbearing. His quietness, his calm demeanor and his soft voice—he was like a flame, burning slowly, faintly and never bursting.
There was an air of tranquility around him now, as though he was at peace, not with the world as Sakura knew it was too soon, the wounds still fresh but at least, he looked like he was at peace with himself.
She’d caught him many times in his hospital room staring out the window with a distant look. The sight wasn’t anything extraordinary from his fourth floor room; red leaves falling down from the trees and above the skies forever changing as time passed. It was a nice sight, Sakura conceded, but Sasuke was never one to study nature like it was art.
Besides, she knew that look. She’d seen it before.
That faraway look, that look of wonder.
He wanted to leave. It was only a matter of time before he did and even Naruto wouldn’t be able to make him stay; this time, he wasn’t leaving to cultivate his anger and his hate.
He wasn’t leaving for power.
For what exactly, Sakura wasn’t sure but he was like a hawk, looking into the horizon for something only he could see and what he was looking for, it wasn’t in Konoha.
Still, he came back to them and he was here, at least for now. What they had now, even if it lasted only a moment—with everything that happened between them, it was enough. She loved him and she knew he cared for her and it was enough.
“Hi, Sasuke-kun,” Sakura greeted him when she entered his room. Walking up to him, she held up her grocery bag and said, “This time, I brought you some apples. I have some time to spare before I have to go to work. Want me to peel them for you?”
He looked at her for a moment, then slowly nodded his head, “Please.”
He was going to leave but in those fleeting moments they spent together, she knew they would be alright.

Day 12: Lights out Words GoneThis is a part two the the prompt of Day 7: Love You Goodbye. I was so surprised people actually liked it here’s a second part. This is for: @mcornilliac, @freshtoxinn, @cherrybipsa, and @gravityphoneperson. I’m glad you liked it.
Against everything in him Sasuke returns to the village,
Sakura’s words ringing in his head. “Stay
here…with me or leave and never come back.” He feels shame after being away
for seven years.He keeps tabs on them through Naruto and he can live in a self-imposed
exile because he knows they are alright. But when Naruto tells him about Sakura
ending up as a patient in her own hospital time and time again he couldn’t not
listen.“It’s always the same,
chakra depletion, she’s always up and running again in a few days. But I worry
for her.” She was overworking herself, pushing herself so hard she didn’t
have the energy to think. He knows that escape well enough.He sneaks into her hospital room past midnight, the lights
are out in the room, but the moon outsides shines through the window and illuminates
the room. Her back is turned to him as she lies on her side, her pink hair
longer than he remembers.“What are you doing here?” She asks, her tone hard.
He wanted to see her, needed
to see her, but he hasn’t planned beyond that. “Naruto told me about this
little game you’re playing.” His tone is harsher than he intended. She senses
it too because she brings herself into a sitting position and turns to him, her
eyes narrowed.“You don’t get to come here after all these years and judge
me.” Her tone is controlled but her eyes were screaming at him, letting out years
of pent up anger. He remains silent until the anger drains out of them as they
realize the futility of it. What’s anger
going to do now? What’s done is done.Her eyes are filled with pain then, in a way that mirrors
his own. After all these years she still hurts by abandonment, by watching him
walk away from her and their daughter, choosing duty again. He still hurts by having had to walk away.He had resolved not to, he was going to stay. But there was
a threat, Naruto needed him, and when Sasuke declined the request Naruto had to
order it as Hokage. “No one in the village
can know.” And so he walked away and by preventing the threat to reach
their gates he saved countless lives by forfeiting his family.He left that night with no words to them, there was nothing
he was in liberty to say that he hadn’t said before. His only parting words
were to Naruto. “Tell Sakura, I’m sorry
for everything.” Words he hadn’t had the strength to tell her himself. To
which Naruto replied, “I’m the one who
should be sorry.” You’re damn right you should be, you tore us apart.
Sasuke had resented Naruto a long time for it.“I’m sorry for everything… for leaving, for coming back, for
breaking this family apart, I-” She cuts him off and he can see as tears form
in her eyes.“I found out why you had to do it, I was so mad! I was mad
at Naruto, at you, at myself until there was no more anger in me. I had driven
you away, you chose not to fight me for us… and you never came back.” She wipes
the tears away.“So much time wasted.” She murmurs and Sasuke wants to reach
out to her and take her in his arms but he holds himself in place. Too much time. They can’t go back to how
things were.He takes a step back, he didn’t plan for when he had to walk
away. “I don’t know how to leave again.” He admits and when his eyes turn to
her there’s a smile on her lips.“Then stay.” In two words she offers him the world. They can’t
go back to how things were but if he doesn’t walk away it’s a start.
On Oppsite Sides
Prompt: On Opposite Sides
Characters: Sasuke/Sakura, Sarada
Sarada has seen her parents fight before (“it’s not fighting, only a discussion,” her mother would say and her father would agree), but never once would she have imagined that they could become so passionate over something so trivial.
The family of three had been lounging in the kitchen. Sasuke and Sakura both stood at the counter, preparing the family’s routine dinner, while Sarada sat at the table recounting the day’s events.
“I don’t know how,” Sarada paused for a moment to find the right words, “but Boruto managed to make the farmer even angrier than before, and this was after he accidentally sprayed the wrong pesticide all over the crops!”
Sasuke snorted, but otherwise the two parents were silent while their daughter continued her story.
“So I’m thinking, well this mission is a complete failure, but I can’t see how it can possibly get any worse.” Sarada said.
“Oh no,” Sakura intoned.
“Oh yes! Mitsuki, the poor soul, had thought that it would’ve been a good idea to ask the farmer a question to deflect the attention away from Boruto. Except, it only made the farmer explode at us. He kicked us and Konohamaru-sensei off his property!” She pushed her glasses up in a huff, as they began to droop down the slope of her nose. “I can’t ever face Hokage-sama again, not with a mission failure!”
“Sarada, I can assure you the idiot has other things to worry about.”
Sakura stopped chopping the vegetables she had in front of her before throwing her husband a glare, and walking over to face her daughter at the table. Putting her hands on the dark haired girl’s shoulders, she looked into her daughter’s eyes. “What your father means, is that while Lord Seventh is an incredibly powerful ninja now, he wasn’t the most talented ninja at your age.”
“That’s giving him too much credit.” Her father now faced the two.
The woman rolled her eyes and ignored her husband’s comment. “I can’t tell you how many d-rank missions we failed as a team, many of which were Naruto’s fault.”
“Really, Mama?” Sarada asked in disbelief.
“Oh yeah. Big time.”
The family was silent for a moment, while Sakura processed the new information given to her about the Hokage.
“So what was the question Mitsuki asked?” The pink haired woman was curious about what had gotten the farmer so riled that it cost her daughter a successful mission.
“Hm?”
“What did Mitsuki ask the farmer?”
“Oh!” She had forgotten to mention it. “He asked if tomatoes were fruit or vegetables.” She hid the grimace on her face, for she knew that her father enjoyed the little red balls of pure evil.
There was a pause in the Uchiha family. The knife Sasuke had been using to slice thin strips of salmon clattered on the wooden cutting board. “Well, that’s easy,” the father responded monotonously. “Tomatoes are obviously vegetables.”
Her mother clicked her tongue, and replied to her husband. “That’s where you’re wrong. Tomatoes are classified as fruit.”
“I think I would know if tomatoes were fruit, Sakura.”
Standing besides the elder Uchiha female, Sarada watched as her mother crossed her arms haughtily, with a smirk upon her lips. “I suppose the great Sasuke Uchiha can’t know everything.”
“Sakura…”
“Yes, darling?”
“Fruit is sweet. Tomatoes are savory, acidic almost.”
“So?” Sakura asked.
“I hate sweet things. I think I would know if I enjoyed eating it.”
Her mother in return replied with what seemed to be the most sugary voice imaginable. “Well,” she shrugged, ”you enjoy eating me.”
Sarada was horrified, and didn’t even register the blush that resided upon her typically stoic father’s face. “Ew! Ew! Mama! Do you have to say things like that when I’m in the room?”
Sakura had the decency to look a bit ashamed. “Sorry Sarada.”
“I knew Papa and Mama were dirty.” The girl shook her head in disappointment.
The man in the room cleared his throat. “As I was saying, there isn’t a possible explanation as to why tomatoes would be in the same category as another fruit such as a banana.”
Sakura Uchiha moved towards her husband, poking her index finger solidly into her husband’s chest. “There are plenty of explanations, Sasuke-kun, you’re just choosing to be ignorant..”
The man rolled his eyes, and gestured for his wife to continue.
“It’s not about the taste, silly. It’s about the way the fruit is developed.” She emphasized her point by sprouting her hands together, in the form of a plant sprouting. “They come straight from the ovary of a flower, same as cucumbers and other types of squash. I wouldn’t typically tie those together with other more commonly acknowledged fruit, but I can’t change what it is. And what it is, is fruit!”
Sarada was amazed that her mother had put such such thought behind her argument, but it was clear that the same sentiment was lost on her father.
Both renowned shinobis simply stood in the kitchen, practically nose to nose, but on opposite sides of opinion. It was almost comical, for her mother stood on tip toe to seem more intimidating (and almost succeeding if it were not for the flour smeared upon her cheek), and her father, always strong and lean, clad in a frilly yellow apron.
Said man pinched the bridge of his nose with his sole hand. “Sakura, you’re being stubborn-“
“I’m being stubborn? You need to accept science, Sasuke-kun!”
Their daughter, still seated at the dining table briefly pondered if she had enough time to run up to her room to grab her phone to record the squabble between her parents before deciding that the risk of missing too much was greater. Boruto would just have to believe her when she would tell him about what his idolized sensei did in his spare time.
“Well then, science is wrong.” Her father retorted.
Sarada almost burst out laughing at the wild eyed look that her mother took on. The pink haired woman began to sputter, “I- You- What?!”
“You heard me.” The Uchiha male smirked. “Your precious science is wrong.”
“You can’t argue against a classification!”
The salmon on the cutting board was starting to look tempting. Sarada wondered how much longer they were going to argue before they went back to cooking their dinner, she was hungry, she thought glumly as she patted her empty stomach. She hadn’t eaten all day after losing her appetite from the failed mission. The girl cut off the quarrel between the two adults to ask a question. “I get that you both have, uh, passionate opinions on this, but can you do this after dinner?”
It was almost funny how quickly the couple seemed to gain a sense of self-awareness. Immediately, her mother and father seemed to almost deflate.
Sakura had the decency to look sheepish, and apologized. “I’m sorry sweetie, I guess we got a little carried away huh?”
Sarada shrugged, but gave her mother a warm smile in response. She also was able to see the red that tinged the tips of her father’s ears, and burst into giggles. “Papa, can we go out to get ice cream after dinner?”
She knew that normally her father would decline, but figured it was worth the shot. Especially since he seemed to be feeling a little guilty.
He grunted in agreement.

“You what?!”
Ino’s scream was heard in all the coffee shop and most people turned to them with curious expressions on their faces. However, the blond woman did not seem bothered by the attention, unlike her companion, who put a finger on her lips with a delicate frown on her brows.
“But Sakura, how many times did you complain to me about the omiai and swore you’d never accept him?”

~~~~~~~~~~ TITLE: REGRETS ~~~~~~~~
Sasuke regrets a lot of things in his life. And considering what a mess his life had been since the massacre of his clan, he kind of wished Itachi could have killed him too that fateful night.
But he survived, lived in a world blinded by his constant urge for revenge, constantly pushing away the people that mattered, the people that actually cared for him. The ones that never gave up on him despite the terrors of his mistakes. Of all the things Sasuke regrets, meeting her isn’t one.
Sakura, the beautiful, yet infuriating kunoichi that he was so lucky to have as a teammate even if he never admitted it. Whenever Sasuke thinks back of all the fangirls he encountered as a young kid, of all the girls that liked him, he could only see a kind girl with beautiful cherry blossom colored hair and bright green eyes, always ready to take on whatever struggles the world decided to throw at her.
And she not only did that, but she did it with determination and confidence. She worked hard for everything she accomplished, her skills now surpassing those of the legendary Sannin.
It hurt every fiber of his being knowing that he hurt her. Knowing that she hurt deep inside while he was away, slowly shattering to pieces. And it was all because of him. He was the one to blame. The Uchiha wished with all his heart that he could somehow travel back in time and take back all the painful insults he threw at her, take back all the pain he inflicted on her innocent heart.
However, the painful truth was he couldn’t. Such things weren’t possible. The actions were of the past and even if the things he said weren’t true, even if he only acted selfishly out of built up anger and impulse , he couldn’t tell her that.
He wished he had told her of his feelings sooner, told her of how much he loved her and that he had ever since their genin days. He couldn’t run up her, hold her, and ask her for her forgiveness any longer because he was too late. For once, he wished he hadn’t followed Kakashi’s example. Now, she was gone…forever.
He would never be able to hear her sweet voice again or feel the warmth of her gentle touch. He would never be able to hear her soft laugh nor her cries of anger whenever something made her mad. Never again would he be able to see that bright smile that managed to reach the pit of darkness he was trapped in and lit it up when nothing else could.
As he stood at her grave, teeth gritted, tears falling uncontrollably, fists clenched until his knuckles grew white. he knew something for sure. He would never in a million lifetimes love any woman more than Sakura Haruno. She was his first love and definitely his last.
For SasuSaku Month 2017.
“Do you remember seeing this same sky, Sasuke-kun?”
When he glances at her, her gaze is bright and directed skywards, a soft smile curving her lips. Her posture is relaxed as she leans her elbows against the grass, comfortably adjusting herself into a position wherein she can see the stars in all their glory.
“Yeah,” he responds. “Back when we were twelve.”
She lets out a light chuckle. “Those were the days, huh?” Something nostalgic crosses her features, one that he doesn’t miss. “The night sky here looks exactly the same as it was years ago…”
He follows her gaze and finds himself immersed in the black expanse, sprayed with sparkling lights and hazy clouds. Both of them don’t speak nor do anything for a long while, finding contentment in being around each other’s presences. He has never really experienced anything like this before, and it’s actually a beautiful, surreal feeling. To have someone in your life who can give you the space you need, understands your reasons, and is never afraid to show how much they love you is still a concept that’s slightly foreign to him, especially since this case is not like his bonds with his family but something romantic.
She may not be the most perfect person in the world, but she is more than enough for him.
She… is the one.
No more hesitating, he thinks to himself.
Without any further ado on his part, he slowly turns towards her and gently cradles her face with his hand. She looks startled at this unexpected move, but she doesn’t say anything, only staring at him with her eyes wide.
She always does have the most expressive eyes he has ever seen.
Sasuke smiles softly, then leans towards her and presses his lips to her forehead.
“Words aren’t the only way to tell someone how you feel.”
Day 18 Prompt: Comfortable Silence.
